Heroes episode 1.14 “Distractions” reviewed
I am so thankful NBC had the video streamlined online for the 14th episode of Heroes’ “Distractions“. But being sick this week also had me scouring for other bloggers with reviews on the episode. Here are two great ones -
Dan of ‘Movie Digest’ thinks the episode regained some of the edge that the show lost in previous episodes. Sam of ‘Heroes The Series’ also gave a thorough review, even noticing that “Texas issued driver’s licenses with only a person’s last name on it”.
Especially noteworthy were scenes of Sylar stalking the Bennett family, Claire reunion with mom Meredith (Jessalyn Gilsig) and finding she also had powers, and that revelation of who Claire’s real dad is. Poor showings were those of Hiro’s scenes and the long-winded discussions between Peter and Claude. Hiro’s scenes did lack depth and the humor between him and Ando is getting old. But I disagree with Dan about Peter’s mentorship only because there was that surprise at the end with Claude throwing Peter down the roof. Claude was clearly a cynic and it’s not clear why he’s helping Peter out when he keeps saying ” people suck”. (They are still both humans, right?) and having unanswered questions about Claude’s character make their scenes intriguing. There were weak scenes with Matt Parkman and his wife. Maybe the writers felt they had to show all the characters in every episode.
